Easter was awesome! I praise God for his work among us! I am calling Easter 2014 a historic day for our church! Here is why: I have been here for eleven years now, and I have seen that Homecoming and Easter are our 2 biggest services each year. I have seen those services boast larger crowds. For the past several years, we have seen a gradual increase with each of those services. Well this past Easter Sunday, we had nearly 300 people here for worship! That is, by far, the largest crowd in attendance in the last 11 years (possibly longer).
I was so excited! It felt awesome (and terrifying) to step into the pulpit that morning to preach to such a large crowd. But I know that God has called us to this very moment. God is using us, His church, to reach and to grow His church here in Fairdale. Lets continue to pray and to work at proclaiming Jesus while loving and serving both God and people.
The Lord’s Supper
Now, I also want to address an issue: The Lord’s Supper. We need to place a great emphasis on this gift from God. EVERY church member should be committed to taking the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis. Something is very wrong if you do not take the Lord’s Supper. Something is also very wrong if you are not interested or concerned about not taking the Lord’s Supper. I, your pastor, am concerned for you. We, your church family, are concerned for you. And you certainly should be concerned for you. Please read 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 and see the seriousness and weightiness of neglecting God’s ordinance.
We take the Lord’s Supper once a month. It is always the first Sunday of each month. And we alternate it between the morning service and the evening service. The next time we are taking the Lord’s Supper will be on Sunday, June 1st at 6:00pm during the evening service.
I hope and expect to see you all there. It is a blessing to display our church unity while taking the Lord’s Supper together. And it is a blessing to display the forgiving power of the blood while taking the Lord’s Supper together. I pray that would be important to you. I pray that God would strengthen us through our understanding of the Lord’s Supper.
With all Sincerity,
Your Pastor, Josh
